NOISE REDUCTION IN THE REFRACTORY AREA

SLIDING CURTAIN SYSTEM AS SOUND INSULATION MEASURE

THE PROJECT AND ITS REQUIREMENTS

With an annual capacity of over 45,000 t, fireproof products have been manufactured at the Dr. C. Otto site in Bochum since 1872. Various machines for the production of moulds are used underneath a crane track.
These machines generate noise and vibrations during operation, so that the employees outside the working areas have to be protected against the disturbing airborne sound. As an initial measure, Cisilent Type E was to contribute to an improvement in the acoustics in the hall and to the absorption of airborne sound, while at the same time guaranteeing the continued use of the 7 metre-high crane track. The structural situation consists of approx. 5.5 metre-wide fields between the individual posts of the crane track.

THE SOLUTION

In order to effectively reduce the noise, a self-supporting, extra-stable structure consisting of 3 parallel rails per field was installed during this construction measure.
The structure was additionally suspended in the middle as a support. As a curtain system, Cisilent Type E consists here of one element per rail and enables the flexible opening of the individual fields.
This project was successfully implemented in a triedand-tested cooperation with our partner Kaldeweide, which carried out the installation and consulting.
