STATIC ELASTOMERIC BEARINGS
          FOR STRUCTURAL SUPPORT

CONSTRUCTION

SPECIAL STRUCTURES

Aside from conventional areas of application, construction bearings are also used in shipbuilding and the regenerative energy sector (e.g. wind power).

Sliding bearings are mounted under glass dome roof structures on ships, for example. They allow horizontal movement caused by temperature differences and the motion of the sea. Elastomeric bearings are increasingly used under the main masts on sailing yachts to prevent high stress loads and deformation causing damage to the hull.

In wind turbines, extremely high stress loads act within segment connections, inevitably leading to damage such as cracks and spalling on the surrounding components. Elastomeric bearings are often used in these structures to keep maintenance and repair costs to a minimum. The use of construction bearings compensates for uneven surfaces while also transferring the enormous loads that occur centrally.
