NOISE PROTECTION DURING RENOVATION WORK

TEMPORARY NOISE BARRIER ON A CONSTRUCTION SITE

THE PROJECT AND ITS REQUIREMENTS

An area of the Lüneburg Council House is currently being converted into a public toilet facility. This conversion affects parts of the basement and ground floor. The toilet facilities are accommodated on the ground floor and the necessary technology in two basement rooms.
During preliminary inspections, it was discovered that the ceiling over the basement is dilapidated in the area to be renovated. Therefore it had to be dismantled. The necessary cutting work led to an increased level of noise pollution for the adjacent publicly accessible offices of the Lüneburg tourist information. The exterior façade of the toilet facility and the two exterior wall areas of the tourist information are located in a common courtyard.

THE SOLUTION

In order to effectively reduce this noise pollution, the exterior façade of the tourist information rooms was clad with Cisilent Type E for the duration of the cutting work. The façade comprises two walls with windows looking onto the common inner courtyard. Thanks to the use of Cisilent Type E, the building site noise was reduced to the extent that the tourist information employees were able to work again without restrictions.
