BUNKER DEMOLITION
TEMPORARY SOUND INSULATION MEASURES DURING DEMOLITION WORK
The project and its requirement
The 42m long, 17.5m deep and 22m high huge bunker on the Wielandstraße in Eilbek was used as a civil defence facility at the time. 30 high-quality condominiums have now been built there, whereby parts of the bunker have been preserved. The AVG Nord removed approx.18,500t of 30,000 t of reinforced concrete and slimmed the remaining walls down to 1.10m. No blasting was used, a 32-ton excavator hollowed out the interior of the building. Since the bunker is located in the middle of residential buildings, a concept for noise protection was required.
The Solution
A 32-ton excavator worked its way down from the top of the bunker towards the bottom plate. In order to ensure that the noise levels were below the legal limits, Samiez Cisilent Type E was attached to the scaffolding they erected on the top of the bunker. During the demolition work, regular sound level measurements were carried out. Thanks to the protective measures taken, the permitted levels could be maintained to such an extent that the criteria of the AVV - Construction Noise Ordinance were met even for a demolition period of 8 hours a day, leaving room for contingencies.
