REGENSBURG DISTRICT
A NEW RESIDENTIAL QUARTER BUILT TO THE KFW 55 STANDARD
THE PROJECT AND ITS REQUIREMENT
In 2021, a new construction project was completed in the Regensburg district of Nuremberg. The new neighbourhood offers apartments, commercial units and social facilities and is located in close proximity to railway lines. Train traffic causes vibrations and secondary airborne noise in the buildings. Due to vibration measurements taken on site, an expert has specified measures to reduce the vibrations and secondary airborne noise, whereby the values in the buildings had to be reduced to the applicable limit values. The exterior walls of the basement facing the railway line (and the side walls perpendicular to the railway line) in contact with the ground were to be fitted with elastomeric bearings for vibration isolation. It had to be taken into account that the groundwater was expected to be at a depth of approx. -1.5 m below the top of the site.THE SOLUTION
The Calenberg solution consisted of Cisador 10 and 80 elastomeric bearings. The product material is closed-cell EPDM, which absorbs virtually no water and also provides lasting protection against vibrations in groundwater.Cisador 10 was used in the upper part of the walls and Cisador 80 in the lower part. This solution met the requirements of the structural dynamics report.
