HOLTHUSEN RESIDENTIAL AREA
VIBRATION PROTECTION WITH CIBATUR FOR INCREASED LIVING COMFORT
THE PROJECT AND ITS REQUIREMENTS
Due to a lack of building plots, construction areas are increasingly allocated very close to railway lines. In Holthusen, there is also a residential area under construction right next to an ICE railway line. Rail traffic, especially nocturnal freight train operations, can be expected to cause significant secondary airborne noise in the buildings, alongside vibrations on and in the buildings, which negatively impact the buildings and their occupants. The available structural dynamics report shows that the impact from vibrations and secondary airborne noise is clearly too high without protective measures. Therefore, we recommend elastic building supports with tuning frequencies below 10 Hz.
An elastic bearing under the floor slab was necessary for this construction project to achieve the recommended tuning frequency and to ensure pollution control and fulfil the expert's specifications.
THE SOLUTION
The structure of the Calenberg protective system:
- Construction of earth foundations / clean layers of concrete as a solid foundation for the elastic elements
- Create an elastic bed joint by applying double-layer Cibatur, arranged in the areas of the building load transfer and the following Pi-slab joints
- Cover the entire bed joint with Pi-slabs to prevent concrete penetration / concrete slurry when concreting the floor slab
- Concrete the floor slab, while ensuring that sound bridges to the floor slab or the building are eliminated (by isolating supply pipes / lines, for example).
A tuning frequency of ≈ 7 Hz was achieved with double-layer Cibatur. The PRIMA HAUS construction company
in Schwerin expertly carried out the construction work.
