💧ŽALGIRIS ARENA in Lithuania
A structural highlight in the heart of Kaunas is the multifunctional water sports centre next to the Žalgiris Arena. 🤿 🏊
To preserve the landscape and character of the area, the building structure was designed as a transparent glass-aluminium combination. The interplay of different proportions, shapes, materials and levels emphasises the successful visual integration into the surroundings. The structure had to be adapted to the differences in height of the surrounding landscape, which influenced the proportions, functional and technical solutions of the building connections. 🧱Concrete is the dominant material in the building, which is a reinforced concrete monolith.
🌊 The swimming pool roof is constructed from combined metal-concrete bearing beams. Working closely with our partner UAB „Delta Nova“, Calenberg has delivered its Ciparall sliding bearings tailored to the project’s demanding requirements. This ensures the long-term durability and structural integrity of the roof construction.
