🏗️Amazon Dobromierz construction project [PL]

🚧 In the municipality of Dobromierz, construction projects by companies such as Amazon and Bosch are currently being carried out in the special economic zone. Amazon has already begun construction of a new logistics and storage centre on its own site, covering an estimated area of 90,000–120,000 m². 🏭

This construction project was challenged with using no (expansion) joints, which would have been unfavourable for the robot-assisted infrastructure. The massive building concept generates high loads and large torsional forces, which must be transferred to the support structure as gently and centrally as possible.

To meet these requirements, our Polish partner Pfeifer, in collaboration with the structural engineers at Calenberg, had different types of bearings in use: reinforced and building authority-approved Sandwich Bearings Q in various dimensions, as well as the unreinforced approved Compact Bearings S65 and S70 with F 90 fire protection.

👷 👷‍♀️The installation of the static elastomeric bearings ensures that component tolerances, unevenness and deviations in plane parallelism, which always occur in such massive structures, are compensated for as planned. At the same time, Calenberg's structural bearings allow for large spans of reinforced concrete beams and the absorption of deflections and angular rotations of up to 43 ‰.

⏳ The extremely tight schedule was not only met but was even brought forward by the commissioning of an additional machine unit.
